Barbara Pailet wrote this email on November 18, 2005, to the National Board of Hadassah. She wrote to thank them for the condolences they sent after the death of "Mama", her mother-in law, who was too elderly to survive the Katrina evacuation and displacement.

This is a photograph of New Orleans Torahs being evacuated from the city in the days following Hurricane Katrina. These Torahs were brought to Beth Shalom Synagogue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and were then evacuated a second time when Beth Shalom was damaged in Hurricane Rita.
