Hillel Alternative Break Trips
This is a picture of the inside of a house that has been gutted on 291 Kuhn Street in Biloxi, Mississippi. A group of Hillel students from campuses across the country traveled to Gulfport and Biloxi to spend their spring break repairing homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The students learned basic construction and roofing skills. By the end of the week, the house at 291 Kuhn street had a brand new roof.
In January, 2006 Hillel students from around North America repaired roofs in Biloxi, MS. Pictured are students from Brandeis and NYU along with Rabbi Allan Lehmann, Jewish Chaplain at Brandeis.
