This photograph shows a refrigerator on top of a pile of debris on the dirt lawn next to a collapsing house. The photo was taken by Steven J. Edelstein, Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Nashville, on a trip to Biloxi, MS, September 22-23, 2005.
Maggots and Mold in the Refrigerator
This photograph, taken by Paula Picker in November 2005, shows the inside of the refrigerator in her parents' house. The fridge is covered in maggots and mold. Paula's parents, whose last name is Teles, lived the house for 10 years. There had been five feet of water in the one-story home, and there was mold everywhere. Pretty much everything was ruined or turned to "pulp".

Michael Glazer and his New Refrigerator
This photograph shows Michael Glazer proudly posing in front of his new refrigerator. This photo was taken in August 2006 by his sister, Katy. Michael is renovating the home he lived in with his family on Cameo Street in New Orleans. After Katrina, mold and mildew permeated everything in the house, including all the cloth-covered or upholstered furniture.
