This photograph shows remains from a house destroyed by Katrina. It was taken by Rick Weil of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. A group of college students and members of UJA-Federation's Westchester J-Teen leadership program came to New Orleans and Baton Rouge during Spring Break to do relief work.
URJ Leadership Mission - Learning at Touro Synagogue
Learning the local Jewish history at Touro Synagogue. This photograph was taken in April, 2006, when twenty leaders from Reform congregations across the country came to New Orleans for a leadership mission. Participants visited local Reform congregations, met with Jewish leaders and government officials, and learned about some of the ongoing problems in the region.
