little girl with hardhat
This is a picture of a Hillel student taking a break from gutting that had been badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina and playing with a local little girl. These students were part of a group of hundreds of college students from Hillels across the country that spent their spring breaks in Slidell and New Orleans, Louisiana, repairing homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina. A year and a half after the storm, there is still a tremendous amount of work to be done. This photograph was taken by Samantha Heller, a student from the University of Vermont Hillel, in March, 2007.
