FEMA tarps

This is a picture of Hillel students removing the protective FEMA tarp from the roof of a house in Gulfport, Mississippi so that they could construct a new roof in its place. Tgese students were part of a group of hundreds of college students from Hillels across the country that spent their winter or spring breaks in Gulfport and Biloxi, Mississippi, repairing homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The students learned basic construction and roofing skills, and worked on many homes over the course of their time in Mississippi. This picture was taken by University of Vermont student Greg Murphy in March, 2006.
