the pod village
This is a picture of the "pods," or hard-shell tents, that Hillel students stayed in while participating in Hillel's alternative spring break programs. Prysbyterian Disaster Assistance turned the grounds of the Orange Grove Presbyterian Church in Gulfport, Mississippi, into a volunteer village where groups of volunteers could stay while rebuilding homes in the area. Hundreds of students from Hillels across the country spent their winter and spring breaks learning basic construction skills and rebuilding homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina. This picture was taken by University of Binghamton Hillel staff member Jackie Farber in March, 2006.
