Another 15 Minutes

This is a blog entry entitled "Another 15 Minutes" from Rabbi Stanton Zamek's blog, www.rabbizamek.blogspot.com. This entry, from November 14th, 2005, describes Rabbi Zamek?s brush with fame after his community's volunteer efforts following Hurricane Katrina.

Rabbi Zamek is the spiritual leader of Beth Shalom Synagogue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He and his community played an important role in relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, hosting evacuees in congregants' homes, reuniting families separated by the storm, and evacuating Torah scrolls from many of the congregations in New Orleans. While Beth Shalom was on the forefront of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, their own synagogue was later damaged by Hurricane Rita. The community is still in the process of rebuilding after the damage caused by Rita.
